The Economy
In my research project, there is no debating that the recession is a "con" for everyday living quality and employment. I have found very interesting information about several different theories about the recession. I found in my research that some economists believe that the recession is beginning to end while others are concerned that the recession will only hit its bottom in as far as 10 to 12 years. There is also a conspiracy that the government is posting information online saying the economy is getting better to stimulate spending. I believe that we are bankrupt already and near nothing will help the economy from tanking now we can slow it down but not stop it.

In “The Guitar Book” by Tom Wheeler that I am reading as my personal learning network I am learning about resonation of different woods, how pickups work, and how to adjust the action of guitar strings. First of all I have learned about resonation of wood. I have learned what woods resonate at high and low pitches and what style of sound they make. “Flamed maple is used in several electric guitars and has a very full tone.” This means that because flamed maple is used in this guitar it will have more presence, kind of warm sound. This is also important in the aspect of choosing the right guitar because you know what type of sound you like and the wood that makes that sound. I am also learning about how pickups work (on electric guitars). “The 6 magnets of the pickups measure distance from the magnet to the string these wavelengths are measured magnetically and picked up from electricity...” Knowing this makes it possible to use more power on the pickups to change the sound, the higher output the pickup is makes more possibility for a grungy sound. Lastly my free read book is teaching me how to adjust the action (tension) of guitar strings. Having the right action on your guitar is vary important but there is no “right” way to do it, some players like there action to be tight while others like there action to be loose. The most important thing about adjusting action is making sure there is no fret buzz. In the past weeks my personal learning network has taught me important lessons on resonation of wood, how pickups work, and how to adjust the action of your guitar.

In the short story “The Utterly Perfect Murder” by Ray Bradbury, a theme accurse of Doug (the main character) wanting to do a bad thing; even though he was a good person, there are several reasons that this was depicted in the story, mostly because the author knew that good people do bad things; so naturally while reading this story the question of “why do good people do bad things?” will come into your mind. The most obvious sign of this is when Doug wakes up and says “I will arise and go now and kill Ralph Underhill.” This statement comes off as cruel and horrible, until you read on later to see all the pain Ralph caused him as a child, the story shows that Ralph threw Doug in the mud the first day he wore his nice new tweed suit in the mud. So why do good people do bad things? That is a question that is open for any answer my thoughts on this is that good people do bad things because of pain, loneliness, anger, and just evil. I believe that Doug is a perfect example of a good person who does a bad thing, because of this.

One of my personal learning networks is the book I am currently reading. Currently I am reading “The Story of Eli Whitney” by Jean Lee Latham. This book is not the most difficult read but the reading is helping me catch up on some time lost during the summer. This book is about Eli Whitney and how he helped grow America with the invention of the cotton gin and the idea of interchangeable parts, this is important because I live in America today and I believe that I should be knowledgeable on my country and the people who helped form the country. Also I believe that this book shows good examples of indirect characterization from the way the writer displays people and how they speak.(seeing that we were going over this in class I made the connection) This book also shows good theme and setting in the first chapter setting up what will happen and getting me aware with what is going on in the story.
